Sandpoint Cyclocross 2012

And so it is, cyclocross came and went in Sandpoint last Saturday.  This is the first time that Sandpoint has been a part of the Inland Northwest Cyclocross Series.  This series runs from September through November and each weekend the races are held in different parts of the Northwest: like CDA, Spokane, Walla Walla, Moses Lake, etc.

Gotta give mad props to Mike, Charles, Steve, Keith, J.J. and Wayne for showing a great deal of initiative and motivation to set a course, do PR and do all the logistics to make this race happen here in Sandpoint.  Not only did we get a cool race, but we also raised some money (I hear 1K) for Team 24/7 and autism.

Here are some pics from the days festivities...

GF mechanics PIT area

guess how you get the mud pit named after you?

Greasy Fingers Bikes N Repair was on hand to provide mechanical support to anyone that might need a little tweak before racing.  Mechanicals were few.  But not only did we provide bike lube, we also had some beverages on hand to help wash down the dirt.

Fast Eddie represented!  That is not pain on his face.

Stats: over 100 racers, 45ish racers from Sandpoint, 150+ spectators, 1 sweet endo, several pots of coffee, many more gallons of beer, 2 sweet Elephants and a ton of fun!  Thanks to all those that participated and those that swung by the tent to chat and have a beverage.  The course was great and it was awesome to meet some new people.  See you all next year for a repeat.
