Empire Trails Ride Report

Last Year I went and visited the new Empire Trails, you can read more about that here.  If you haven't visited them yet, you should.  It is a great early season ride, for a few reasons.  One, their trails open up early then a lot of ours up here around Sandoint and Bonners Ferry.  Second, the trails are not super long and either are the climbs...just a good early season shake down ride.  Lastly, they...damn I forgot what the last point was gonna be.

Anyways, still hit up Miller's Harvest Foods or the IEP gate to get your day pass first.  Seems pricing has changed this year depending on wether you drive to trailhead or ride, $10 if you drive, $2.50 if you ride or hike to parking lot.  You do the math and decide what works best.

lots of little flowers coming up here...trust me

mossy creek crossing

beautiful meadow crossing

most scenic overlook on trail system

Anyways, the trails are in great shape.  Better than last year now that they have a winter to cure.  The trail group at Spirit Lake has done an amazing job working on these trails, and more trails are planned in the near future.  So, go support them and their efforts.  And as they ask, in turn, support the local businesses that sponsor them...we prefer the White Horse Saloon post ride.

Oh, I remember now the other reason to visit these trails early in the Spring, all the flowers!

Sandpoint Sojourn with Pancakes at the Mudhole 2016

Adventure Cycling is turning 40 this year.  They are asking people to go bike camp the weekend of Jun 4-5th to celebrate.  Sounds like a good excuse to pack up and hit the road for the weekend, huh?

Here is some details for the ride that will leave from Greasy Fingers Bikes N Repair.

You can also follow on the Facebook.

Now go start getting your gear ready.
